Dubai Municipality has said it is working on the final stage of a new high-tech mapping system which aims to locate buildings in the emirate to within one metre.

Makani will use a code number for each building in the emirate of Dubai and will be available for use through smart phones, tablet PCs, computers and navigational devices in cars.

مكاني سوف يعمل على ترقيم البنايات في إمارة دبي وسوف يكون متاح للاستعمال خلال الهواتف الذكية و الأجهزة اللوحية و الحاسب الآلي وفي اجهزة الملاحة. 

Hussein Lootah, director general of the civic body said in comments published by news agency WAM that the system will "have many tangible benefits, most notably ease of identifying any location on the map accurately up to one metre".

حسين لوته المدير العام في الجهاز المدني مصرحا والذي نشر في وكالة وان : ان النظام سوف يحتوى على العديد من الفوائد الملموسة، اغلبها لاسيما سهلة تعريف اي مكان على الخريطة بوضوح اكثر من متر"

He said the Makani application will be far more accurate than other related applications, as it needs only a number code instead of names of places.

وأضاف قائلا تطبيق مكاني  للكدى الطويل سوف يحدد التطبيقات المماثلة له، والذي يحتاجه الرقم الرمزي بدلا من اسماء الأماكن .

Makani's development comes amid Dubai's ruler Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum' plans to transform the emirate into a "Smart City".

تطبيق مكاني يطور وواحد من أهداف الشيخ محمد بن راشد المكتوم الذي يحول الإمارة الى المدينة الذكية.

The strategy features six key pillars and 100 initiatives covering transport, communications, infrastructure, electricity, economic services and urban planning.

والاستراتيجية تضيف ٦ أعمدة من الميزات و ١٠٠ تغطية لدعم المواصلات، الاتصالات، البنية التحتية، الكهرباء، الخدمات الاقتصادية و التخطيط العمراني.

Under the strategy, 1,000 government services will go smart in the next three years. The Smart City project will enable the public to deal with government departments using their smart phones "any time, any day of the year".

والاستراتيجية هي ان تقوم باحتضان ١٠٠٠ خدمة حكومية ذكية خلال الثلاث سنوات القادمة . مشروع المدينة الذكية تتيح للعموم التعامل مع الإدارات الحكومية باستعمال الهواتف الذكية في اي وقت و اي يوم في السنة.

The Dubai ruler said fibre optic networks and high-speed wireless internet will form the backbone of "a new life in the city of Dubai".

The project has evolved from the previous e-Government programme of Dubai which was launched in 2001.
